The Problem

Lana Shlafer is a mindset coach who has empowered thousands to manifest what seems out of reach, including crossing 7-figures in their business, healing from a chronic illness, and meeting their ideal partner.
She bootstrapped her coaching business from the ground up almost a decade ago.
But she had been through an assortment of different transitions in recent years. She was having a hard time making all the pieces of her business fit together and keeping things running smoothly.
She had big dreams she wanted to fulfill, including writing a book and launching a podcast, but felt like she needed to play small in order to keep things manageable.
To finally get those day-to-day challenges handled so she could get to work on those big dreams, she needed help.
The Solution
Lana brought me aboard in June 2019.
Initially she hired me to write copy.
But my role expanded quickly from there to include systems, copywriting, strategy, customer service, and more.
Making the systems and technology work
Anyone who runs an online business knows that getting all the different pieces of technology to work together can be a complete nightmare.
You miss a connection somewhere in the setup or there’s a software glitch, and suddenly you have angry customers who didn’t get what they paid for.
Not good! And even when it’s not actively happening, you lie awake at night wondering if it might be happening and you just don’t know it yet.

Lana had recently switched to Kartra as an all-in-one solution to handle email marketing, sales, digital courses, and other related things.
Kartra comes with a learning curve that exceeds the amount of documentation.
I came in and went to work learning Kartra, which I had never used before. In my first few months, I took responsibility for that side of the operations.
Creating sales pages. Building new customer portals. Automating email sequences.
We also gave the website a much-needed facelift so that it better reflects the current brand and gives potential subscribers and customers exactly the information they need most.
Supercharging customer service
I grew into the role of customer service manager.
In addition to normal customer service responsibilities, I focused on integrating it with the rest of the business as much as possible.
Where I see other businesses go wrong is they treat customer service like its own silo.
They miss so many opportunities to learn from their customers.
Whether it’s improving user experience or creating new content to address common questions, there’s so much you can do.
By looking for ways to learn from our customer service, we find that we’re able to help our customers in bigger ways.
Super clear communication and follow-up
It’s so important to me that we communicate in a clear, timely manner.
I’ve worked with companies in the past where that wasn’t the case. Not only does it make it harder to get things done, but it’s just depressing and isolating.
I’ll let Lana describe how that’s working.
I really really really love how James keeps me updated. It’s like the most delicious thing in the world to be able to see exactly where everything is at. I don’t ever need to follow up with him and I’m so grateful. It frees me up to do so much more in my life and in my business. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Copywriting
Lana is a brilliant, energetic communicator. ๐
Whether it’s the written word, audio, video or probably any form of communication in the past, present, or future, she’s going to show up brilliantly with a ton of energy.
She’s probably the most challenging person I’ve ever written copy for โ and I mean that as a compliment.
I feel grateful that she trusts and relies on me to help with that responsibility, whether it’s newsletter copy, blog posts, customer service, or something else.
Launch, Launch, Launch! ๐
We’ve executed a number of successful launches.
They cover the whole gamut.
Membership programs. Live events. Premium coaching programs.
And a podcast! And a bestselling book!
That I can wear so many different hats, from strategy to copy to tech implementation, makes things flow smoothly.
Things that might get lost in translation from one specialist to another just get handled.
Getting to work with Lana, helping strategize and plan things out, and then to implement โ it’s been so much fun. I feel blessed to co-create with her. ๐
